Summary

Chapter 16 started with Dexter calling Kate from one of his business trips. She was mad and assumed at this point that his job was helping criminals to hide or launder their money. She got even madder when he told her he had to work on Thanksgiving.

After tucking the children in, Kate sat down to watch TV and to reflect on her anger. She tried to hide it from their children and consoled them when they learned their father would not be home for the holiday. She was aware she could not ignore her suspicion of Dexter any more. She knew she needed to investigate him.

When Dexter did arrive home later in the chapter, he brought champagne to celebrate making 20,000 euros that day. Kate acted happy for him and asked how he earned it, trying not to sound suspicious. He explained...
