Point of View

The point of view of this book is first person, told through Mary Ann's son, Will. The two are very close, and Will is very knowledgeable with respect to his mother's life, so he is often able to provide a context to his mother's outlook on life that would otherwise be lacking. This point of view is important since Will is just as interested in books as his mother, and his mother believes that books are very important to people who wish to learn and grow.
