Summary

The Halloween party starts in Chapter 7. Kriss, Marlee, and then Celeste eagerly greet their families. Then America sees her little sister, May, come in and she is in tears as she greets her family. They marvel at how she looks and she realizes how much she needed to see them. Maxon meets them and thanks May for making it possible for him to have his first date with America. America’s mother gets mad when she hears that America argues with him. Her father, however, is happy to hear that Maxon likes a girl who stands up to him. She thinks about how much she wants her father to approve of Maxon and that she had never thought it would be hard for him to approve of Aspen even though he was from a lower caste than hers.
