Monrovia, Liberia

Monrovia is the capital city of Liberia and the place where Moore lived with her family before the civil war. Her father worked in Monrovia before the war and later her parents returned to live there once their adult children left home in America. Monrovia is the part of Liberia Moore knows best and thus she frequently dwells on how it used to be while comparing how it is today. Her return to Monrovia after decades of absence is bittersweet in that she sees how much the city and its demographics have changed due to the war and how little of her childhood memories remain.
