As the danger in Shanghai intensifies, Genevieve talks more about returning to Los Angeles and it seems to be a question of when, not if they will go. She finally purchases tickets for the trip and finds that Joseph needs time to close down his businesses. Genevieve has never been comfortable in Shanghai and has always viewed it as a temporary home. For Anna, it is the only home she has ever known. On Anna's seventh birthday, Genevieve takes her to mass and then for a hot cocoa, even though it is a school day.
