Summary

Chapter 36

Babette dislikes her dessert and insists they take it back. The floor manager argues. Serge also argues with his wife. Babette stands up for herself. Finally, the desert is taken away. Afterward, Serge criticizes Babette for her behavior. For once Babette argues back. Serge stands like he is going to leave, but does not. Claire plays peacekeeper, trying to calm everyone down. The owner of the restaurant comes to their table and offers Babette an alternative dessert. Paul dislikes the man on sight because he reminds him of a suspected pedophile who once lived in his neighborhood. For that reason, he rudely tells him to leave.
