Part 1: Chapters 10-14 Summary

Chapter ten begins with Vera and Herb. Vera has to go on medication for high blood pressure. The woman claims that the medicine does nothing but make her feel sick and despite Herb and Johnny's cajoling, Vera stops taking the meds. Herb tries everything he knows to convince his wife to take the medication, to no avail. Vera's correspondents agree with her that God will take care of everything.

Johnny and Vera finally begin to argue about God's will regarding the new prophetic gifts. Herb plays peace maker. When Marie tells Johnny that her son is okay since he had the eye operation, Johnny thinks that perhaps God did have something to do with the gift.
