In Chapter Nine, Alex and Julie see more dead every day, and they are startled one day to experience was seems to be an earthquake. At school, Alex learns a tsunami has hit lower Manhattan, causing massive flooding and evacuations, and he wonders how long it will be before they will be forced to leave. However, to help with food supplies, Alex does agree to go body shopping with Kevin where they steal from the decaying bodies on the street.
