Chapter 22

In Chapter 22, Ruby discovers that Clancy doesn’t expect her to work around the camp like the others. While they are talking, he floods her mind with images of romantic settings in which Clancy and Ruby are close. He tells Ruby he can teach her to use her abilities, saving her from the trial-and-error method he’d been forced to use. Ruby leaves the camp for the lake and finds Chubs there. They have a good-natured argument about which of them found the spot first but Chubs can tell Ruby is worried. She explains her reluctance to trust Clancy with helping her learn to control her powers.
