Chapter 7, Ka-Shume, Chapter 8, Notes from the Gingerbread House, and Chapter 9, Tracks on the Path Summary
Roland Deschain, Susannah and Eddie Dean, Jake Chambers and Oy take stock of their situation in the cave. They find supplies and ammunition, even a motorized vehicle for Susannah to ride. The group feels like they are under a cloud, and Roland realizes it means their ka-tet may soon break up. They find crates of sneetches, weapons the wolves had used against them. The look at the buildings in the compound with the help of a map. They believe some of the buildings are wood, and may burn. They drink water together and Roland talks to them about the possibility one of them may die. Mordred eavesdrops on the groups and learns they plan to attack the compound. Mordred decides to stay and watch what happens.
