Maryland Private Hospital for Ladies and Gentlemen

The Maryland Private Hospital for Ladies and Gentlemen is the hospital where Benjamin Button is born. At the start of the short story, Roger Button races to the hospital, delighted by the prospect of meeting his new son. However, his unsettling encounter with Doctor Keene on the hospital steps unsettles Roger. Once inside, he is horrified when the nurses treat him in the same manner. Finally one nurse directs him to the nursery, where he meets his son, who has been born in the body of a 70-year-old man. After calming down, Roger leaves, later returning with a suit for Benjamin. He dresses his son, cuts his beard, and takes him home.
