Benjamin Button

Benjamin Button is the main character of the short story. He is born to Mr. and Mrs. Roger Button in Baltimore, Maryland, in the year 1860. Roger Button is thrilled and excited by the prospect of having a son. However, he is shocked when he discovers Benjamin has been born a 70-year-old man. Once he finally takes Benjamin home, Roger struggles to adapt to life with his aged-looking baby. Benjamin does his best to play the part of the child, despite his wizened mind and sensibilities.

Despite how others treat him, Benjamin strives for positivity and hopefulness. He soon establishes a relationship with his grandfather, and he and his father become friends. Then one day Benjamin realizes he is growing younger. His newly youthful appearance bolsters his confidence.

He applies to Yale College and gets in. However, when the registrar sees that Benjamin looks like a 50-year-old man...
