Summary

Prologue - Part I

The media and the public congregate around the entrance of Number 18. They are being held back by police. Young girls bring flowers for the deceased, who apparently fell from her balcony around two in the morning. Detective Roy Carver impatiently waits for the ambulance. There is a body inside that is hidden by a tented drape. Detective Sergeant Eric Wardle confirms the ambulance is two minutes away. The only witness to the jump seems to be a drug-addict, high at the time. The news floods the public with the story of a public fight with a famous boyfriend, the girl traveling home alone, screaming heard overhead, and the fall, followed by the boyfriend fleeing into a rehab facility. A witness claims there was a second argument before the fall. The witness later checks herself into rehab. It seems...
