Merlin begins to enjoy his homecoming. It is spring. He reads, makes medicines, plays music and walks around the countryside. On one of these walks, he comes across Keri from the nunnery. He asks her if she left she said yes, because it was like a cage. She intoxicates him. He grabs her breast and she bites him on the mouth, and they tumble to the ground.
