Pgs. 41-76 Summary

Melissa argues with Chip in class that his purpose is to make the students hate the same things that he hates. Soon the rest or the students are questioning his motives and have him on the defensive. He is saved by the bell ringing, terminating the class and the semester. Chip is upset because he thinks that he is doing something that is socially useful, which is what his father always said he should do.
