Chapter 13 Summary

McCoy and Pick drive back to the base following their liberty in New York. Pick tells McCoy that Ernie Sage is from a very wealthy family. McCoy feels that she lied to him and made a fool of him. Pick says that maybe she really likes him.

This is the last week of their training course and it basically centers on behavior. They are also given liberty at night. Their orders come and Pick and McCoy are assigned to the Washington DC area. That Friday they graduate and receive their second lieutenant bars; McCoy is the detail commander for the ceremony. As they march past the reviewing stand, Pick sees his parents in the stand.

Captain Stecker congratulates McCoy and says he thinks he will make a fine officer. When Stecker leaves, Pick says he wants McCoy to meet his parents. After the...
