Chapter 20 Summary

The bishops are scheduled to meet at the archiepiscopal residences to discuss the cardinal's kidnapping. Cardinal Bem surprises them at the meeting and all are relieved to see him, except for Archbishop Krasnoy and Bishop John Charnowski. He meets with the two in private, and they admit to planning on inciting the riots, but deny that they had Gregor Danekin and his sister try to murder the cardinal.
