Summary

In Part 2, Chapter 11, from inside her hiding place, Ada heard Charlotte Rogers and May Hawkins discussing where Ada might have gone and vowing to wait for her to appear. Charlotte and May, both 12, bullied the younger students. At 8, Ada was too stubborn to follow their demands. Ada did not enjoy the classes intended to turn the girls into proper young ladies but instead liked science and geography, taught by Lucy. Ada noticed also that Lucy was unlike typical women because she liked to learn and did not hesitate to talk about politics or religion.
