Chapter 24 Summary

Borlu stays up half the night watching interrogation video of Corwi and the two women he dates back in Beszel. He also watches the interrogation videos of the comrades of Yorjavic, the man Borlu killed. The next morning, Breach escorts Borlu out of the building. The man, who says his name is Ashil, tells Borlu not to run or shout.

As they proceed to their destination, Ashil walks Borlu through crosshatched streets, so that in one step they leave Ul Qoma and step into Beszel. Then, they step back and return to Ul Qoma. The final destination is the college library. Borlu retrieves the copy of Between the City and the City from the shelves. When he opens it, they can see Mahalia's notes written in the margins and along the pages.
