The Woman

The woman is the nameless protagonist of the story. She is of indiscriminate age, and living in an unidentified town. At the start of the story, she has just completed writing her own fictional story. The elements of her creative project, however, are indistinguishable from those of her life. She lives in an apartment by herself, just like the woman in her story. Also like the woman in her story, when she hears about the impending hurricane, she becomes afraid and starts reading the Bible. She insists these studies have nothing to do with her fear, and are only inspired by her deep need to know what the Bible contains.
