The prisoner is taken for his walk, but this time, he grabs a guard and threatens to break his neck if his chains are not unlocked. Asuntha appears from the shadows. A guard unlocks Niemeyer's feet but his hands are still chained when a night watchman comes upon the scene and blows his whistle, causing the prisoner to flee with his daughter.
