The Quest for Truth

The Cat Who Saw Red quickly becomes focused on searching for truth. The main character in the story is a newspaper reporter. While his job is supposed to be focused on the food it becomes clear that Jim Qwilleran's past job as a crime beat reporter is something that Jim hasn't entirely given up. While it is possible that Jim might not have been so eager to get involved if the victim hadn't been Jim's old flame, Joy, it does seem that he enjoys the gathering of clues and the mystery that is involved.
