Jim Qwilleran

Jim is a writer for the Daily Fluxion. It is this newspaper that has Jim reviewing cuisine from gourmet diners. Jim owns two cats that Jim believes are very intelligent, especially Koko. Jim keeps a typewriter out for Koko to type messages on. Jim is very devoted to his two cats, but is divorced and seemingly has no other relationships. When Jim moves into Maus Haus at the beginning of the story his land lady cries which seems to imply a great deal about Jim's character.

When Jim sees his old flame, Joy, it is quickly seen that Jim is willing to do things that might be inappropriate considering that Joy is married.
