Blackwater Lane

Blackwater Lane is a road that goes through the woods and provides a shortcut from Cass’ house to a place called Castle Wells. This is the road on which Rachel meets Jane and kills her and it is the road on which Cass sees Jane on the night of her death.

It serves to show how the choices one makes impacts their lives as one of the things that contributes to Cass’ mental state is the fact that she had not stopped to help the woman in the car. If she had not taken the shortcut, this would not have been an issue.

Cass’ House

Cass lives with her husband in an isolated area. It is here that she receives the silent calls. It is also where she spends her days as a recluse when she takes her medication and where she resigns herself to the idea...
