Summary

In Chapter 25, "Matthew," Matthew visits Rachel. At the door, she will not let him in, confessing that his best friend Benjamin is over. Matthew is shocked by Benjamin's betrayal. When he tells Hal, his father is similarly surprised. The next day, Betsy, Zoe, and Duncan comfort him. When Zoe suggests that Rachel embellished what was happening between her and Benjamin, Matthew decides to ask his friend. At the pub, Benjamin confirms Zoe's story. He never wanted to hurt Matthew.

In Chapter 26, "Zoe," Zoe goes to Rufus's apartment, suggesting he give her a belated birthday present. Though Rufus is initially hesitant, they have sex. Afterwards, they tell each other secrets. Zoe reveals the story about Karel. Rufus tells her he had a vasectomy after getting his teenage girlfriend pregnant.
