This is where the novel takes place and there are specific neighborhoods and places described as they relate to the story line. As the narrator, Matt describes what he sees as he travels around the area. He talks about the chicken restaurant where he first sees Love and the local bodega where he sometimes buys sandwiches. He describes the rougher element of the neighborhood where he lives, included the rowdy men who hang around outside Chris's house.

This is where Chris lives and where Love lived with her mother when she was a child. The building is divided into apartments and Love's mother was killed on the third floor, the same floor where Chris lived.
