Summary

In Chapter 4, “Nineteen,” Matt arrives at the funeral home. Robbie has been looking for Cork but is unable to find him. Mr. Ray says they need Matt to fill in as a pallbearer. Matt does not know what that entails and is nervous, but agrees to help. Matt rides with Mr. Ray and Robbie leads the way to the church. When Mr. Ray has to slam on his brakes, Matt is surprised to discover the casket is in the back of their car. They arrive at the church and Matt learns the dead woman is named Nancy Knight. Outside, Robbie and a man named Benny discuss the expensive casket and debate about the woman's life. Matt worries about dropping the casket as he helps carry it inside.
