Summary

Chapter Five

Will is nearly thrown off the train because he didn’t think to bring his ticket with him and looks like a stowaway. One of the guards, Paul Chan convinces the other worker, Mackie, not to throw him off the train. He helps nurse Will back to health as he’s exhausted and chilled from his run. Will tells his story to the two guards. Chan believes him although Mackie is dismissive of the claims. Given the size of the train, it will take some time to pass along a message all the way up to the front, but they agree to help Will out, and warn the other guards that Brogan is disguised as a brakeman and could be on the train. Will has dinner with the guards and is loaned a bed where he almost immediately falls to sleep...
