Summary

Page 67, Mayor – The Riveras begin attending the same Mass as the Toros. Afterwards, the families have lunch together. Rafael always loves to watch soccer, talk about Enrique playing soccer, or watch football if nothing else is on. Celia encourages Mayor to talk to Maribel during these get-togethers, but Mayor doesn’t see the point. Walking home from school one day, Garrett makes fun of Mayor, following on his skateboard. It is raining. Mayor tries to be polite, knowing that Garrett doesn’t have any friends, his older brother was killed in the Iraq War, that his mother had broken down and left, and his father was a drunk.
