Bayo (1745)

The village of Bayo rests in the African interior. It is a small village with a few dozen families. Although it is small, it is quite lively, with different groups -- the Fulbe and Bamana among them -- making their home there.

Aminata is born in Bayo, and when she is taken away and forced into slavery, she spends her entire life yearning to return to Bayo.

Sullivan's Island and St. Helena's Island (1757)
