Summary

In Chapter 16: "The Pharmacy," Malcolm, Alice, and Lyra navigate the floods and Malcolm sees a spangled ring, much like the one he once saw around Lord Asriel. On the floor of the canoe, he finds a card from Lord Asriel offering his help if he ever needs it. Malcolm decides to set a course for Lord Asriel's home to deliver Lyra safely to him. They hear Gerard and his daemon paddling after them but they manage to escape and eventually find shelter in a pharmacy. They stock up on supplies, consider their options, and are questioned by two rowers before going on their way.

In Chapter 17: "Pilgrims' Tower," meanwhile George Papadimitriou and Lord Nugent are safe in the tower waiting for Bud Schlesinger, another agent of Oakley Street. Hannah tells them what happened at the priory and fears that Malcolm, Alice, and Lyra...
