Chapter 34 Summary

One spring day, Valancy is returning home from the woods and runs into a famous painter from New York that has a cottage on the lake, Allan Tierny. When Allan sees Valancy his eyes light up. Another afternoon when Valancy returns home Barney tells her that Allan came to ask Barney's permission to paint Valancy. Valancy says she doesn't want to be painted and Barney had told Allan that he didn't want his wife to be painted.

Another evening that spring, Valancy realizes that Barney likes her. The night Valancy realizes that Barney truly likes her she also realizes that she hasn't had a heart attack in at least two months.
