Chapter 28 Summary

After her visit, most of her family treats Valancy as if she is dead to them. A couple of times they go shopping in Uncle Benjamin's store. He ignores them, but one time he does confront Barney about marrying Valancy. Valancy sees her home as her castle. She also cuts her hair into a bob before it is in style for a woman to wear her hair this, which sends her mother into another crying spell. Her attacks are fewer and controlled with Dr. Trent's medication and the only night she has a bad attack is when she is out of medicine.
