Chapter 27 Summary

Valancy decides that she needs to go to Deerwood and tell her family she is married. She runs into Cousin Georgiana first, who tells her that Edward Beck wants to marry Valancy. Valancy shocks her cousin by telling her that she's already married. When Valancy arrives at her mother's home, she notices that her rosebush is blooming. Valancy runs into Olive first, flaunts her ring and tells her she is Valancy Snaith now. When Valancy steps into her mother's home, she finds most of her relatives assembled there.

Mrs. Frederick thinks Valancy has come home. Valancy announces to her family that she married Barney Snaith. They all react negatively. Uncle Benjamin even suggests that Valancy might be a changeling.
