Chapter 17 Summary

Valancy finds living at the Gay's home to be peaceful. For the first time in herlife, Valancy is able to make her own choices and do what she wants. She cleans the house and cooks the meals for the Gays. Valancy is also a caretaker and companion for Cissy. Cissy notices that there is something wrong with Valancy too and she asks Valancy if she is sick. Cissy also confesses that she wants to die so that she finds peace and rest. Valancy tells Cissy about her Blue Castle, which is the first time Valancy tells anyone about it. Cissy says she had her own Blue Castle once too.
