Summary

In Chapter 29, Caroline waits anxiously for Eddie's return to New York. Part of her hopes she can forget about him after this meeting and truly move on with her life. When Gregg comes home late the night before Eddie's arrival, Caroline pretends to be asleep so she will not have to face what Gregg has been doing. Eddie invites Caroline to his hotel room for lunch and she accepts. They talk about their shared memories and Eddie confesses he was a fool to leave her. He says he wants to run away, but that they have to face reality. They profess their love for each other and Caroline says they can never again go through the pain of being apart. Eddie agrees. They go out for a walk that evening. When they encounter an older couple that Eddie knows, he sends Caroline around...
