Summary

In Chapter 10, fall arrives in New York. Caroline spends three days in Port Blair and visits the beach. Mary Agnes has two weeks and spends them looking at housewares and going places with her fiance, Bill. David allows Gregg to spend three days at his apartment before she leaves for her acting job. April spends a lot of money on clothes and goes places with Dexter. Barbara spends a week at a resort where she meets men, but none who are interested in someone with a child.

Caroline attends a party at the home of a friend, Kippi Millikin, who introduces her to Paul Landis, a single lawyer who lives in New York. Caroline knows she would be bored with Kippi's life.
