Summary

The narration recalls a time when a group of salespeople arrived in the protagonist’s neighborhood to try to sell things to the residents. Two salesmen rang the doorbell of the protagonist’s house. In order to make them go away, she told them to come back later when her husband is home. The salesmen asked if they could wait inside until her husband returns. When she refused, they grew hostile and vandalized the house before leaving. The narration then briefly shifts to shortly before the protagonist’s death. When a police officer tried to grab her and frisk her body, she slapped the officer across the face. The narration then shifts to when the protagonist was pregnant with her first child. Her dog, Greta, had recently given birth to a litter of puppies. One day, Greta almost had an altercation with another neighborhood...
