Summary

In Chapter 19, Viola is surprised when Mistress Coyle leads her to a cart where two soldiers have rifles aimed at them. She is even more surprised when it appears the soldiers talk to Mistress Coyle as if they are friends. Then the man driving the cart calls Viola by the name Hildy. They greet one another and Mistress Coyle says they can catch up later. She and Viola are squeezed into a secret compartment in the wagon and taken to the place where the Answer has set up camp. On the road there the cart is stopped by a man whose voice Viola recognizes as Hammar’s. She is angry because Prentiss lied to her about Hammar being punished.
