Summary

In “The End,” Mayor David Prentiss interrogates a boy named Todd Hewitt. He wants to know the identity of the girl with whom Todd was found. The last thing Todd remembers is being in the town square with the girl dying in his arms. He demands to know where she is but Prentiss will not tell him. Todd remembers they had been trying to reach Haven because they thought they would be safe there.

Prentiss tells Todd that his Noise, his thoughts which other people were able to hear were giving him away. Todd notices that neither Prentiss or Mr. Collins have Noise. He continues to refuse to tell Prentiss the girl’s name so Prentiss orders Mr. Collins to begin beating Todd.
