The Ants Important People
Bert Htzlldobler
Born in 1936, Htzlldobler is a German biologist and Pulitzer Prize winning co-author of The Ants. Htzlldobler and Wilson also authored Journey to the Ants: A Story of Scientific Exploration (1994), and Htzlldobler has authored numerous other books and papers. Htzlldobler holds positions at the University of W'rzburg and Arizona State University. He has previously been the Alexander Agassiz Professor of Zoology at Harvard University's Museum of Comparative Zoology and served as the chair for behavioral physiology at the Institute of Zoology of the University of W'rzburg.
Edward O. Wilson
Born in 1929, Wilson is a biologist known for his work on ecology, evolution, and sociobiology. In addition to The Ants, the Pulitzer Prize winning Wilson has authored several major books, including Sociobiology: The New Synthesis (1975), and hundreds of papers. He coined the term biodiversity.
