Part One - 1895: Pages 109 - 150 Summary

Mungo leaves at Robyn's insistence, and reaching the crest he notices the sky turning an unusual color in the distance. Still disturbed by his time with Robyn, and replaying it in his mind, he is only partially aware of the cloud until with some speed it descends on him, forcing him to return to the Mission again. The cloud of locusts is so thick he has difficulty finding his way back, despite the well marked road. He helps them gather pots, pans and blankets as they race for the field in an effort to save the crops, but when the locusts finally take to the sky again, there is nothing green left behind.
