Summary

"Jacob’s Stories – The Drone": This story is written in the first-person voice and perspective of a drone aircraft flown by the American military. The drone describes his pleasure in his work, his relationship with his flyers (Dick and George, based in Florida), and his sense of accomplishment whenever he successfully completes a mission. He describes crash-landing after damage is done to his wing, the source of the damage unclear. The drone worries about ending up buried and forgotten in the sand of the desert, but is discovered by a young man he calls Mohammed, with whom he (the drone) makes friends.

They enjoy each other’s company for a couple of days, the drone choosing to turn off its weaponry but then turning it back on when he is discovered first by Mohammed’s angry father and later by the people...
