Summary

"Satan’s Interviews – Catherine": As Satan continues his interview with Saint Catherine, who says she does not know which saint was with Jacob during his early life in Cairo, when he suffered from debilitating migraines, and she only came to him when he was in Beirut. She comments on the relationship between Jacob and his mother, saying that “…whenever his mother entered the room, or simply acknowledged him while passing in the dimly lit hallway, the boy’s heart released its anchor no matter the suffering” (111). She also reveals that Jacob’s migraines disappeared when he discovered and accepted his sexual taste for being physically abused, and how they returned after Doc’s death.
