Summary

In Chapter 22, Greta took Bert to the room that was used as a nursery for Vita, and Vita’s twins. Greta explained that Vita let Joseph play there. She showed Bert a drawing that Joseph had made of a blue man with long hair and huge eyes. The word “Simi” (230) was written below the drawing. When Bert asked if Joseph had ever been afraid of Vita, Greta explained that Vita was not all bad. Vita was kind to her son and to Greta. Greta told Bert that her son was coming back. She knew that Bert’s promise to find him had not been an empty one.
