Summary

Chapter 1 begins with the 38 year old Leia, a comic book artist, recalling when she had first really felt the presence of her unborn child, Digby. Lying in bed with insomnia, panicking about work, she felt him move for the first time and he became real for her. She recalled the moment she had become pregnant, when she had had a one night stand with a man dressed as Batman.
