Summary

In Chapter 17, set in 1947, Finn and Charlie were transfixed as Eve told them about her work as a spy. Eve would not answer when Finn asked her if she thought René was still alive. She did tell them that Violette, the woman in the antique shop, had been a fellow spy.

While Eve and Finn checked into a hotel near Paris, Charlie went to a pawn shop and bought a wedding ring and some clothes from a second-hand shop. Charlie decided to name her fake dead husband Donald McGowan.

Chapter 18 returns to 1915 with Lili and Eve at the train station on their way to meet with Cameron. Lili and Eve were both surprised when a man from Lili’s past called her by her given name, Louise de Bettignies, and made conversation with her.

At the safe house, Eve could not help...
