Summary

“We Are From Samba” begins with Dores’s titular song lyrics that express the comfort samba brings to the characters involved in Dores’s roda. Dores reveals in Chapter 7 that she married Vinicius much later in their lives. She remembers how Vinicius helped support her during her years of alcohol abuse after Graça’s death. He visited her and brought all sorts of albums until he brought her with him to a recording studio. Dores finally sang for the first time in years during that recording session. Dores acknowledges that the record they recorded together continues to sell well.
