The Ritz

The Ritz is where the story begins. Here, Luella and Ede Kerr have afternoon tea, and Luella spends the entire time airing her grievances about her life with Charles and her baby. Furthermore, here Luella displays her desire to demonstrate a degree of control in her life.

The Hemples' Apartment

The Hemples’ apartment is where the bulk of the story takes place. For most of the story, it is where Luella feels most trapped. Moreover, Doctor Moon lingers and appears at random moments in the story, seemingly appearing from nothing. Furthermore, Luella’s frustrations about being forced to deal with her familial responsibilities take place here. In addition, the bulk of the pivotal plot points occur in this section.
