Summary

Sara visits Daisy Cavanaugh, who has been thrown into the Blackwell Island Prison (entirely separate from the Blackwell Island Insane Asylum) for stealing. A bitter and hardened Daisy tells about how she had leveraged Sara's former pregnancy as blackmail, informing Theo about the pregnancy as leverage for herself. Daisy and Theo had wanted Sara to get an abortion, a plan that was foiled when police began to arrest people for abortions. Daisy had then begun to drug Sara, which had caused her to drift into her stupor, before placing Mrs. Camden's necklace in Sara's desk. While on the island, Sara visits the asylum, hoping to visit the grave of her unborn child. Instead, Sara is surprised to be told that, according to the records, her child had actually lived.
